TransCanada brought the Lachenaie Compressor Station on its TransQuebec & Maritimes system back online at 3 p.m. EST Wednesday and said a curtailment of all discretionary services (including diversions) to East Hereford, PQ would be lifted with the day’s intraday 2 nominations cycle. Lachenaie, about 45 kilometers north of Montreal, experienced an unexpected shutdown Tuesday morning. Preliminary investigations have indicated an electrical ground fault to be the root cause of the outage, the pipeline said. For Thursday, no curtailments are expected for deliveries to East Hereford. However, no increases in nominations to East Hereford will be authorized to ensure sufficient recovery of line pack and pressures in the affected area, TransCanada said.

Kern River is soliciting fixed-price bids from suppliers for the sale and delivery of 1,190,000 dekatherms of natural gas, or an average of 35,000 Dth/d, to be used by the pipeline in February and March as linepack for expansion projects. The deadline for bids is noon MST Feb. 11. Deliveries would be made from Feb. 22 through March 31 at any valid receipt points. Kern River noted that due to operational conditions, it may need to reduce the receipts to zero on some days and will work with the supplier to deliver additional supplies on another day(s) or extend the delivery term under the agreement. Citing an updated maintenance schedule posted on its electronic bulletin board, Kern River said it anticipates not being able to accept the gas offered during the March 11-14 period. Due to the postponement of some projects and changes to other plans, El Paso issued a restatement of its February maintenance schedule. See the bulletin board for details.
