Pacific Gas & Electric set zero tolerance for positive daily imbalances in issuing a systemwide Stage 2 high-inventory OFO for Wednesday. Penalties are $1/Dth.

TransCanada said compressor repairs at TransQuebec & Maritimes Station #650 (Lachenaie) were completed last Friday and the unit was returned to service. The compressor failed over the Aug. 14-15 weekend, prompting TQM to issue a force majeure declaration to TransCanada effective with the Aug. 15 gas day (see Daily GPI, Aug. 18). With the return of Lachenaie, the TQM Station #654 (East Hereford) has been taken out of service to perform critical maintenance, with an expected return date of Aug. 27. TransCanada does not anticipate restricting any transportation service due to this maintenance, assuming current operational conditions and nomination levels.

In its first weekly posting of aggregated working storage data (see Daily GPI, Aug. 23), Sonat reported that as of the end of Thursday’s gas day, estimated inventory was about 50.6 Bcf, or about 84% of its system’s total capacity of 60 Bcf. At the end of the gas day for Thursday in last year’s comparable week (Aug. 21, 2003), estimated inventory was about 47.6 Bcf, or about 79% of capacity, the pipeline said.
