Westcoast restored its normal 10% pack/10% draft imbalance tolerance range Thursday after having set it at zero/20% and then 5%/15% previously to encourage drafting of the system because of high linepack.

Noting that a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission technical conference on enhanced reporting of storage inventory information is set for Sept. 28, Sonat said Friday that while the Commission’s new reporting requirements likely will not be determined for some time, the pipeline “believes that posting of aggregated working storage data can be of value to shippers on its system.” Therefore, effective Monday until further notice, Sonat will begin posting weekly the following aggregated working storage data on its SoNet Premier bulletin board and nominations system: (1) working storage inventory for the gas day that ended at 9 a.m. CCT on the previous Friday; and (2) working storage inventory for the comparable gas day in the previous year. All such data will be based on the weekly storage reports that Sonat is required to submit to the Energy Information Administration. Postings will be made around 4 p.m. CCT on Monday or Tuesday (if Monday is a holiday).

Northern Natural Gas reported Thursday that repairs are continuing on Chatfield (MN) Compressor Station unit and now are scheduled to be completed by Sept. 1. A force majeure was declared in February when the compressor went down with a mechanical problem; the pipeline originally expected to fix the unit within a week (see Daily GPI, Feb. 18), but since has postponed its return to service at least twice. Summer contracted firm commitments can be delivered without the aid of the Chatfield compressor, NNG said, and at this time it does not expect any level of LaCrosse/Tomah branch line curtailment during the remainder of the repair process.
