Pacific Gas & Electric issued a systemwide Stage 2 high-inventory OFO for Saturday. Penalties were $1/Dth for positive daily imbalances exceeding what traders considered a very lenient tolerance of 11%. SoCalGas extended an Overnominations Day declaration into a second day Saturday.

PG&E Gas Transmission-Northwest (GTN) began performing unscheduled maintenance Friday on Unit 7C to replace the main lube/oil pump. Station 7 capacity was cut to 1,970 MMcf/d, which approximated 2,250 MMcf/d at Kingsgate, beginning with Friday’s evening cycle. Off-line deliveries upstream of Station 7 and receipts downstream of Station 7 were not affected. GTN anticipated a return to normal stated capacity at the start of Saturday’s gas day.

Citing decreasing soil and ambient temperatures, NOVA said it requires an increase in Alberta target linepack. It requested unconditional tenders through Thursday for the firm purchase of about 425,000 gigajoules of natural gas. Tenders may be submitted for all or some of the increase. The gas, which will be purchased through inventory transfer, is required over a period of up to 20 days commencing on or about Nov. 12. See the bulletin board for details, or call Jeff Stoffregen at (403) 920-6337 or Darryn Rouillard at -6341 for more information.

Recalling a mid-October notice of unscheduled compressor outages at its Muldon (MS) Storage Facility (see Daily GPI, Oct. 16), Sonat said Friday it expected to exceed available injection capacity over the weekend. Thus it was not accepting due-pipeline make-up nominations effective with Friday’s Intraday 1 scheduling cycle. In addition, in order to encourage deliveries that otherwise might be targeted for storage, Sonat offered a blanket transportation discount for Saturday through today on wellhead, pool and interconnect receipts in Zones 0 and 1 scheduled for delivery within the same zones. The rate was 1.1 cents/Dth (inclusive of surcharges) plus fuel and was offered on a “first come, first served” basis for up to 50,000 Dth/d per shipper.

ANR reported Friday the completion of maintenance at Havensville Compressor Station (see Daily GPI, Sept. 25), but said that due to maintenance between Main Line Valves 39 and 40, a 30 MMcf/d reduction of total Southwest Mainline capacity will last through Nov. 9.

CIG said two units will be out of service at Kit Carson Station in Colorado for the entire month of November, reducing station capacity by about 60 MMcf/d, although impact to service should be minor. Construction work on Nov. 15 will require the shut-in of Niobrara Station for 12 hours. The Elk Basin and Grizzly meter stations will be shut in for construction work at 8 a.m. local time Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. local time and returned to service at 5 p.m. Nov. 8.
