Florida Gas Transmission lifted Saturday an Overage Alert Day that had been in effect for the previous two days.

Tennessee said Monday it had been informed by plant operator TARGA Midstream Services that an emergency shutdown was required at the Lowry Plant due to a well blowout at a nearby location operated by a third party. There was no damage to the plant, but all employees were evacuated as a precautionary measure, Tennessee said. Effective with Cycle 1 Monday, nominations at both the Lowry Plant and the Seahawk Lac Blanc meter were taken to zero, with shippers at the plant and the Seahawk Lac Blanc meter required to reduce nominations to zero for Tuesday’s gas day until further notice.

In a bulletin board posting Friday, NOVA said a line break had occurred early that morning on the 20-inch diameter Kaybob Lateral Line about 30 kilometers southeast of Fox Creek, AB. The pipeline said it activated its emergency response plan to isolate the affected section. There were no injuries reported and no service impact to customers, NOVA added. “The extent of the damage to our system has not yet been determined. The appropriate authorities have been notified and employees are at the incident site to begin inspections and determine the cause and extent of damage.”

Citing unforeseen complications, Northwest said Saturday it had suspended scheduled pig runs between the Pleasant View and La Plata B Compressor Stations (see Daily GPI, Aug. 3) until further notice. It restored capacity through La Plata B to its design volume capacity of 350,000 Dth/d Sunday.

Due to completion of major maintenance projects and customer response to a request for balancing receipts and takes, El Paso said late Friday afternoon, operating conditions on its system have improved since it warned of a potential Strained Operating Condition last week (see Daily GPI, Aug. 9). Linepack had returned to acceptable levels and Washington Ranch storage facility was in injection mode, El Paso said, and as a result it was lifting the warning of Strained Operating Condition.

Southern Natural Gas said Monday shippers in the aggregate have accumulated an estimated net long imbalance of more than 430,000 Dth during the Aug. 1-12 period, with about 175,000 Dth of the imbalance being incurred last Thursday through Saturday. “Further, early indications are that shippers incurred significant additional long imbalances for the gas day of Sunday,” Southern said, as it “strongly encouraged” all shippers and receipt/delivery point operators to monitor their business closely and make appropriate adjustments to preserve operational integrity of the system. “This includes ensuring that actual flows stay within entitlements (scheduled plus available no-notice injection entitlements, if any) at receipt and delivery points,” the pipeline added.
