Citing projected cold weather later this week and anticipated load requirements, Dominion said a System Wide Alert will take effect Thursday. All customers should monitor hourly deliveries from Dominion and act to minimize hourly variances in those deliveries in an effort to avoid further action by the pipeline, it said.

Transco reported experiencing significant due-shipper imbalances on its system for the first five days of January, saying Friday they totaled about 2 million dekatherms or an accumulation rate of about 400,000 Dth/d. A continuation of moderate weather in the market area is likely to result in additional due-shipper imbalance “unless shippers begin to actively balance flowing gas supplies with actual market requirements,” Transco said. “Shippers may be anticipating that with the eventual return to colder weather…they will be able to remedy imbalances at that time. Shippers are advised that this option may not be available, depending on system conditions.”

Northwest said it had resumed accepting requests Monday for interruptible storage at its Jackson Prairie Storage facility, but if it becomes necessary to use the capacity to meet firm obligations, Northwest will notify interruptible customers that within seven days of such notice they must reduce their working gas inventory to a level specified by Northwest.
