Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) said it is holding an open season from Jan. 14 to Feb. 13 for firm transportation service from Zone 6 at Station 210 along the Trenton-Woodbury line. If sufficient market demand exists, the pipeline would file an application with FERC for another Trenton-Woodbury expansion project.

Transco put an additional 51,000 Dth/d of firm capacity into service in the Northeast last November with a seven-mile pipeline expansion in Burlington and Mercer counties, NJ.

The new service proposed for the latest Central New Jersey expansion project is anticipated to be available in November 2005, subject to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval.

“This expansion project is designed to meet the growing market demand in the Northeast, while honoring our customer commitment and respecting our capital discipline,” said Doug Whisenant, senior vice president of Transco parent company Williams’ natural gas pipeline business. “This proposal is a reasonable and responsible step that meets those criteria.”

Interested shippers may subscribe for up to 150,000 Dth/d of capacity. A Transco spokeswoman said demand has been growing about 3%/year in this market area.

“I wouldn’t go as far as to say there are constraints in this area,” said spokeswoman Gina Johnson. “I know prices have been high over the last couple of weeks and we have been getting media phone calls about that, but essentially our system has been functioning well and we have not had any operational issues. This is just to help meet some of that demand growth in the area.”

For additional information regarding the Central New Jersey expansion project contact Bill Sansom at (713) 215-3367 or Joan Harris at (713) 215-2904. Shippers must complete and return the transportation service request by 5 p.m. CST on Feb. 13.
