Williams’ Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC (Transco) is holding a nonbinding open season through Aug. 4 for an expansion to provide up to 150,000 Dth/d of firm service to markets in Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland, the company said Tuesday.

Williams said the Mid-Atlantic Connector Expansion project is designed to provide service from an interconnection with East Tennessee Natural Gas in Rockingham County, NC, to delivery points as far north as Transco’s interconnect with Columbia Gas Transmission in Montgomery County, MD. The proposed in-service date for the expansion is Nov. 1, 2012.

The level of market interest will determine the cost and pipeline facilities required for the expansion, the company said. The expansion will be subject to approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other agencies.

Transco has been busy on the open season front recently. Late last month the pipeline announced a binding open season for its Northeast Supply Project, which will provide year-round firm transportation service from the discharge of Transco’s Station 195 in York County, PA, to certain delivery points in Zone 6 (see Daily GPI, June 24).

That open season covered delivery through Transco’s Northeast Connector project and Rockaway Delivery Lateral project. Northeast Connector would provide firm service on Transco’s Zone 6 mainline and the Rockaway Delivery Lateral would provide firm delivery lateral service on a new lateral to National Grid on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens County, NY. The total firm capacity made available under Northeast Connector was 165,000 Dth/d, while the total firm capacity to be made available through the Rockaway Delivery Lateral was 647,000 Dth/d.
