FERC has issued a presidential permit and granted authorization for Valley Crossing Pipeline LLC to construct and operate a 2.6 Bcf/d cross-border natural gas pipeline between Texas and Mexico, where it would be used for power generation and industrial customers.

A bipartisan group of federal lawmakers has raised the possibility of prosecuting pipeline saboteurs and violent anti-oil and gas activists as domestic terrorists, according to a letter sent to Attorney General Jeff Sessions Monday.

In the Oct. 25 edition of NGI’s Daily Gas Price Index, the story“TransCanada Says Columbia Gas Explosion in Ohio Unlikely to Cause Disruptions,” said an explosion occurred at the Columbia Gas Transmission system meter station in Northeast Ohio. However, TransCanada Corp. has since clarified that there was no explosion or fire. It said residents instead heard pressurized gas flowing through a leak. The cause of the incident remains unclear.

Houston-based Occidental Petroleum Corp. (Oxy) is recommending stockholders not respond to a mini-tender offer by TRC Capital Corp., which is seeking to purchase two million shares, or about 0.26% (as of Oct. 20) of the exploration and production company’s outstanding shares. By attempting to obtain less than 5% of outstanding shares, TRC’s mini-tender offer would bypass scrutiny by the Securities and Exchange Commission. TRC has made mini-tender offers for other energy firms in the past that include ConocoPhillips and Encana Corp.
