Woodside Energy Group Ltd. said Thursday it has a tentative deal with labor unions to avert a strike at its North West Shelf (NWS) LNG terminal in Western Australia, while Chevron Corp. indicated it was moving closer to a similar settlement at its facilities.

Woodside said it reached an in-principle agreement with workers on the offshore production platforms feeding the 16.9 million metric tons/year (mmty) NWS liquefied natural gas facility. Both the company and union representatives said the deal settles negotiations over wages and working conditions.

The agreement has to be finalized, voted on by employees and sent to Australia regulators for approval. The unions have agreed not to strike at NWS during that process.
