SignalEnergy Inc., a junior independent based in Alberta, said it has acquired Predator Exploration Ltd. and an undisclosed private oil and gas company. The all-share deal is worth about C$21.9 million for both companies, including the assumption of debt. Predator’s assets include natural gas properties in British Columbia and western Alberta. SignalEnergy said when the deal is completed, its production rate will increase 240%. SignalEnergy’s exploration focus is in Alberta, in Twining, Ferrier and Carrot Creek. The transactions are expected to be completed before the end of the year.

The Houston Exploration bought about 79 Bcfe of Gulf of Mexico gas reserves in two asset packages on Wednesday from an undisclosed company for a total of about $145 million.

Western Gas Resources said it bought about 60 Bcf of proved gas reserves in the San Juan Basin on about 24,000 net acres from an undisclosed seller for $82.2 million. The property currently has about 100 coalbed methane (CBM) wells that are producing 12.6 MMcf/d (9.3 MMcf/d net).

Enron Corp.’s Official Unsecured Creditors’ Committee has filed a motion requesting the bankruptcy court reject a $2.2 billion offer by NuCoastal LLC to acquire its CrossCountry Energy business unit. In the proposed “stalking horse” transaction, an unnamed company has submitted a counteroffer for $55 million more, according to the motion.

In its second announced transaction in two days, TXU Corp. on Friday agreed to sell Oncor Utility Solutions, its consulting and asset management business, to UMS Group, a global utility consulting company headquartered in Parsippany, NJ. Financial details were not disclosed.

Scana Energy announced a definitive agreement Thursday to acquire Energy America LLC’s 50,000 customers in the Georgia for an undisclosed amount. With this transaction, Scana’s total customer base will increase to more than 450,000 in Georgia, which represents about 30% of the 1.5 million customers in the state’s natural gas market.

Dynegy Inc. confirmed Friday that it is in exclusive discussions with St. Louis-based Ameren Corp. to sell Illinois Power Co. (IP) for an undisclosed amount. Dynegy’s sale of the unit to Exelon Corp. fell through late last month, and Ameren said in a statement that there was no assurance that the talks would lead to an agreement or that the agreement would be completed.

Forest Oil Corp. said it purchased $102 million of stock in an undisclosed privately owned company with about 102 Bcfe of proved gas and oil reserves located primarily in the Permian Basin and five fields in South Texas.
