Twin Eagle Sand Logistics LLC, a subsidiary of Twin Eagle Management LLC, has landed its first 130-car frack sand unit train at an industrial rail terminal in Texas at the edge of the Eagle Ford Shale.

Despite the havoc wreaked by the twin Gulf of Mexico hurricanes and the upheaval in the credit markets, third-quarter oil and natural gas production oupaced year-ago levels and second-quarter activity, the American Petroleum Institute (API) reported Friday.

Cash prices rode the twin wave of Hurricane Rita’s threat to already hurting Gulf of Mexico (GOM) production and a record-setting screen spike the day before to further large gains Tuesday. A moderate warming trend across the southern states also chipped in some renewed power generation load.

San Francisco-based PG&E Corp. leap-frogged the continent tocomplete the $1.59 billion acquisition of New England ElectricSystem’s generating business, including hydro and gas-fired plantswith 5,100 MW of capacity. The acquisition was made by PG&Esubsidiary U.S. Generating Co.
