Transco Puts Sundance Expansion In Service

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line has placed its Sundance Expansion Project into service, increasing capacity by more than 236,000 Dth/d mainly for traditional markets and new power plants in Georgia and the Carolinas. The project includes four pipeline loops, totaling 38 miles, along the company’s existing mainline system and 41,225 hp of compression at two existing compressor stations in Georgia — Station 115 in Coweta County and Station 125 in Walton County.

Producers Oppose Spin-Off of Transco’s South Texas Facilities

Major gas producers have called on FERC to reject Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line’s application to spin off its South Texas pipeline facilities to an unaffiliated Texas intrastate pipeline, a move that critics argue would bifurcate Transco’s system into jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional segments and force shippers to deal with a patchwork of rates, schedules and nomination procedures.

FERC has granted a certificate for Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line’s Momentum Project, which will increase capacity on its mainline by 358,898 Dth/d to serve generation and traditional markets in the Southeast region. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission also granted a certificate of public convenience and necessity to Seneca Lake Storage LP for a new storage project in Schuyler County, NY.

EPA Settles Environmental Case Against Transco

The Justice Department and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced Friday Williams’ Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line has agreed to extensive testing and clean-up for soil and groundwater contamination related to waste disposal at numerous compressor stations along its pipeline. In addition, the settlement with the company calls for Transco to clean up polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) contamination, complete a storm water monitoring program, conduct storm water sampling at several compressor stations and pay a $1.4 million civil penalty. The settlement is the latest in a number of similar actions brought against interstate pipeline companies over the last 15 years.

Transco, Dominion Test Eastern Markets for More Pipe Capacity

If Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corp.’s first two projects this week weren’t enough, another one is on the way. A day after filing two new expansions with FERC, one of which is the largest in the pipeline’s history, Transco said yesterday it is holding an open season for firm transportation service from Station 65 in Louisiana to Station 165 in Pittsylvania County, VA.
