Inc. reported last week that it has teamed up with Emera Inc. to form Greyhawk Gas Storage Company LLC, a joint venture to acquire, develop, own and operate high-deliverability, multi-cycle (HDMC) natural gas storage facilities in the Northeastern United States.

Quicksilver Teams With PanCanadian on CBM

Texas-based Quicksilver Resources reported that its Canadiansubsidiary, MGV Energy, has entered into a joint venture withPanCanadian Petroleum Ltd., to explore and develop coal-bed methane(CBM) reserves on one million acres of PanCanadian-owned land. Theproject will focus on PanCanadian’s Palliser block in SouthernAlberta, and is one of the largest potential CBM plays in NorthAmerica, the companies said.

Dynegy Teams with Nicor to Build Chicago Plant

Dynegy and Nicor announced plans to jointly build a gas-fired,peak demand power generation facility in East Dundee, IL, in aneffort to provide relief for the Midwest’s “capacity shortfalls.”The 250 MW facility, called the Rocky Road Power Plant, is expectedto begin construction during the first quarter of 1999, and beginservice this summer. It is located 43 miles northwest of Chicago.The partnership, which is an even 50% split between the twocompanies, still seeks approval from local authorities andregulatory officials before it can start building. Nicor said theplant plans to use 1-2 Bcf per year.
