LNG Developer Teams Up With Indian Tribe on Maine Terminal

Quoddy Bay LLC, a Tulsa-based energy development company, has teamed up to build an LNG import terminal in Maine with a local Indian tribe in a unique arrangement that has tax and developmental advantages. The announcement comes less than a week after Maine officials, including Gov. John Baldacci, touted the then-unnamed project as having a key ingredient for success — local community support.

DOE Teams With Penn State on Gas Storage Issues

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has teamed up with the Pennsylvania State University to research improvements in underground gas storage technology. Under an agreement, a consortium will be created by Penn State and DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory Strategic Center for Natural Gas that will operate for four-and-a-half years with funding of about $3 million.

Marco Polo, discovered in the spring of 2000, is Anadarko’s first deepwater development project and is located on Green Canyon Block 608 about 150 miles offshore Louisiana.

Following up on an already busy year, Falcon Gas Storage Co. Inc. reported last week that it has teamed up with Emera Inc. to form Greyhawk Gas Storage Company LLC, a joint venture to acquire, develop, own and operate high-deliverability, multi-cycle (HDMC) natural gas storage facilities in the Northeastern United States.
