Senate to Cast Final Vote on Stimulus Package Tuesday

As President Obama called on Congress to act quickly on the economic stimulus bill, the Senate Monday invoked cloture on a slimmed-down, bipartisan substitute amendment to the recovery bill that seeks to jump-start a green economy, including provisions to promote greater production of renewable fuels, new power transmission facilities and increased energy efficiency and conservation.

House Follows Senate in Passing Final Defense Bill Minus ANWR, LIHEAP

The House of Representatives, in a somewhat anti-climatic move Thursday, passed a slimmed-down defense appropriations bill that excluded a provision to open Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil and natural gas drilling, as well as $2 billion in emergency funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
