Shut-Ins Drop to 1.98 Bcf/d; 23 Gulf Platforms Return to Service

After sitting at 2.3 Bcf/d for a week, Gulf of Mexico gas production shut-ins due to damage from Hurricane Ivan finally started heading back down again over the weekend as repairs to Destin Pipeline and Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s Bluewater system contributed to the return of about 23 production platforms.

FGT, Tetco Report Pipeline Leaks, But No Injuries, No Fires

Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) and Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) both reported natural gas pipeline damage on Tuesday. In both cases, there were no injuries and no fires, but gas flows were impacted.

S&P Sees Gas Prices Moving On Up in 2003; Revises Forecast

Natural gas and oil production companies are sitting rather comfortably as natural gas prices are poised to end 2002 near $5.00/MMBtu and oil prices are clinging to $26/bbl, according to a new report issued by Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services (S&P). The rating agency also said it will increase its 2003 Nymex natural gas pricing estimate from $2.75/MMBtu to $3.00/MMBtu.

Rappaport was first elected to the position in 1993.Before his election, he served six years as a member of Nymex’sboard of directors. Rappaport has been a member of the exchangesince 1981.
