Goodrich Petroleum Corp. officials said they were “extremely pleased” with results from several wells in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (TMS), while the company’s “balanced portfolio” saw net crude oil production climb to 1.1 million bbl in 2012, a 70% increase over 2011.

Domenici: Plan to Delay FERC’s SMD to ’08 Lacks Senate Support
A legislative proposal recently floated by Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) to push back implementation of FERC’s standard market design (SMD) plan for U.S. wholesale power markets to 2008 “does not have sufficient votes” in the U.S. Senate and “it does not have my support,” Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) told reporters last week.

Reliant Energy’s Shelby County, IL, peaking power plant begancommercial operation last Friday. The 340 MW natural gas-firedfacility marks Reliant’s first power generation project to be builtin Illinois. The facility, which is located about 180 miles southof Chicago, began construction in late February. The plant willoperate on its five current turbines until they are ultimatelyreplaced by eight General Electric LM 6000 natural gas turbines.The plant is expected to operate a maximum of four months duringthe summer each year.
