Cheniere Energy Inc. on Tuesday said it has secured an option on a large site at the mouth of the Calcasieu Channel in Cameron Parish, LA, to develop its fourth proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

El Paso Corp. on Tuesday closed $3 billion of credit facilities, which CEO Doug Foshee said indicate the “significant progress” the company has made to improve its financial position. The new facilities replace an existing facility set to expire in June 2005.

Following through on a plan to build a 1.3 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal to serve U.S. markets, Houston-based DKRW Energy LLC last week purchased 1,500 acres of property at Puerto Libertad on the Gulf of California from the state of Sonora, Mexico. DKRW subsidiary Sonora Pacific LNG signed an agreement with Mexican officials in May to build the terminal and associated gas pipeline facilities (see NGI, May 31).

Following through on a plan to build a 1.3 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal to serve U.S. markets, Houston-based DKRW Energy LLC has purchased 1,500 acres of property at Puerto Libertad on the Gulf of California from the state of Sonora, Mexico. DKRW subsidiary Sonora Pacific LNG signed an agreement with Mexican officials in May to build the terminal and associated gas pipeline facilities to serve U.S. western regional markets (see Daily GPI, May 26).

A Houston-based energy trading firm has purchased Williams’ domestic petroleum trading and marketing business for $23 million and the assumption of future obligations that total $16.5 million.

Continuing a string of agreements to up its financial stake in strategically located U.S. oil and gas assets, junior independent Energas Resources Inc. on Tuesday announced it had secured an option agreement from the Thomas Dorough Trust to explore 4,320 acres in the Wind River Basin of Wyoming. Under the agreement, Energas will be able to earn the acreage by drilling certain portions within the next two years.

Dynegy Inc.’s CEO said Wednesday that the company had reached a “defining point” in its rebuilding process, after securing a new $1.66 billion bank credit financing package that won’t come due until 2005. The new facility replaces existing loans held by subsidiary Dynegy Holding (DHI), which would have matured over the next two months.
