Gulf South declared a force majeure event due to repairs required at the Carthage Junction Expansion Compressor Station that began Tuesday and will last until further notice. Gulf South said that effective with Timely cycle nominations for Wednesday’s gas day going forward, it is anticipated that scheduled receipts in the “Area 8 to 16 Scheduling Group” will be restricted to Primary Firm only.

New Year: Northern Nevada Gas Rates Up, Power Down

In its final action for 2010, the Nevada Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved rate changes effective last Saturday for NV Energy’s northern utility operations. As a result, retail natural gas utility rates increased at the start of the new year and electric rates decreased. The overall revenue increase to the company is $2.7 million for natural gas and, thanks to other fixed monthly customer charges, $13.1 million for electric.

Transportation Notes

In anticipation of lower-than-normal temperatures continuing on its system, Northern Natural Gas declared a System Overrun Limitation (SOL) in all market-area zones for Saturday through Monday. However, the pipeline said an earlier notice about a Friday SOL had been inadvertently posted and no SOL will be in effect that day.
