Prices Succumb to Milder Forecasts, Screen
Although going into the weekend sub-freezing lows were still in the forecast for the Northeast, Midcontinent/Midwest, Rockies and Western Canada, prices fell at a large majority of points Friday. A general warm-up was predicted for several areas by the time the Presidents’ Day holiday arrived. The extra loss of industrial load associated with a holiday weekend and the previous day’s 4.7-cent decline by March futures also contributed to cash market bearishness.

Rockies Express (REX) said it has postponed until March previously scheduled Feb. 24-25 maintenance at its Lost Creek booster station, which will affect nominations at the Lost Creek Sweetwater location. REX will post the new dates for this outage in its March maintenance schedule.

WSI Sees Western Heatwave, ‘Active’ Hurricane Season Ahead
July and August will see warmer-than-normal temperatures dominating the western United States, especially the northern Rockies and northern Plains, and the 2008 hurricane season still looks to be an active one, according to forecaster WSI Corp. of Andover, MA. The season’s second named storm, Tropical Storm Bertha, developed in the eastern Atlantic late last week and was not expected to approach North America until at least early in the week — if at all.
