After more than a year delay because of the struggling merchant energy business, SGR Holdings said its 12 Bcf Southern Pines Energy Center is back on track and subsidiary, SG Resources Mississippi LLC (SGRM) plans to proceed with construction of the high deliverability storage project in Greene County, MS, with service starting in 2006.

NOAA Closes Record on Millennium, Resumes Process on Islander East

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) resumed the appeal process and reopened the comment period on the Islander East project earlier this month. The public comment period will extend to Nov. 20 and a public hearing on the project will be scheduled this fall in Connecticut, NOAA said in a Federal Register notice. Meanwhile, on Aug. 8, NOAA officially closed the record on the Millennium Pipeline appeal, leaving 90 days for it to make a final decision on the project.

Oil Majors Want Assurances Before Production Resumes in Nigeria

ChevronTexaco Inc. (CVX) on Friday said it was unwilling to resume oil production in Nigeria after a series of ethnic clashes forced evacuation earlier this month. Royal Dutch/Shell Group stopped its production in the western Niger Delta last Wednesday, and also has not decided when to return to the region.

Down Trend Resumes as January Dumps 16 Cents

The apparent short-term correction in this bear market may have come to an end Monday as the January contract busted through and closed below Friday’s low, ending the day down a hefty 16 cents to $2.686/MMBtu. With very little in the way of bullish fundamentals available, other than some slightly chilly weather in northeastern markets, some observers see the potential for more sharp declines as the contract makes its way toward expiration next week.
