Enbridge Projecting More Growth in Onshore, Offshore Gas Businesses

Calgary-based Enbridge Inc. on Wednesday reported the “best” quarterly results in company history, but the company doesn’t plan to rest on its laurels. Future growth, said CEO Patrick Daniel, will be more balanced between liquids pipeline projects and increasing opportunities in natural gas and renewable energy.

Northeast Finally Gets In on Rising Price Action

Northeast citygates, after holding back from the overall advances posted in the rest of the cash market in the first two days of this week, handily led gains at nearly all other points Wednesday. The general price strength occurred despite severely cold weather not being predicted for Thursday outside northern sections of the Northeast and Rockies, the Upper Plains and much of Canada.

Futures Drop a Nickel on Expected Respite from Cold

After quickly recording a low at $5.621 just minutes into Friday’s regular session, February natural gas futures climbed the rest of the day to close at $5.749, still down 5.7 cents from Thursday’s close but 17.7 cents higher than the previous week’s finish. News of a potential warm-up during the Jan. 11-15 week could have had something to do with the weakness Thursday and Friday.
