A group of California power generators — led by Reliant, Williams, Mirant and Dynegy — has asked FERC to either extend the deadline for comments on whether to reduce the wholesale natural gas costs used in calculating power refunds to the state, or postpone the proceedings related to California’s request for $8.9 billion in refunds until the gas issue is settled.

Reliant declared force majeure Thursday, saying the #1 unit at its Malvern (AR) Compressor Station will be unavailable for an estimated four to five months due to an unscheduled overhaul. At present the pipeline expects this outage to have “very limited impact to capacity,” but as traditional cooling load increases this summer, it may have to limit IT, Authorized Overrun Service and secondary capacity in the Quadrangle System and on Line AC.

Reliant said the #2 compressor unit at Chandler Station (LatimerCounty, OK) is down with a cylinder problem. As of Monday theestimated downtime was two weeks.

Due to high linepack, Southern California Gas issued anOvernominations Day notice for Saturday.

The Energy Consortium – that’s American Electric Power, AquilaEnergy, Duke Energy, El Paso Energy, Reliant Energy and SouthernCompany Energy Marketing – is the latest entry to stake out aposition in the electronic trading sweepstakes.

Reliant reported its #1 unit at the Amber Compressor Station(Grady County, OK) has gone down with mechanical problems and itcan not estimate the outage’s duration. Until further notice Westof Amber capacity is limited to 360,000 Dth/d.

Reliant will limit West of Amber capacity to 360,000 Dth/d forWednesday only due to maintenance on the #3 compressor at AmberJunction Station (Grady County, OK).

Reliant is under a Critical Period operational alert due tosevere weather in the system’s market area. Effective today no SBSrate schedule storage withdrawals will be allowed until furthernotice.

The electric unit at Reliant’s Buckley Compressor Station northof Shreveport, LA has shut down because of internal problems. Theoutage may last several weeks, a gas control staffer said; anupdate will be posted soon on the pipeline’s bulletin board.
