SCANA Energy Raises Georgia Gas Market Share to 30%

SCANA Energy announced last week that it has closed on the acquisition of 50,000 retail natural gas customers formerly served by Energy America in Georgia’s deregulated natural gas market. The company also reported that the Georgia Public Service Commission voted to retain SCANA Energy as the state’s sole regulated natural gas provider, extending the two-year term of SCANA Energy’s Regulated Division for at least another year, through August 2005.

Anadarko Posts Higher Earnings, Gas Production, Raises Dividend 40%

Anadarko Petroleum CEO Robert J. Allison Jr. said Friday that he expects the company to report record earnings this year after a major cost-cutting program, better-than-expected performance from exploration and production operations and higher realized commodity prices. The company also is raising its dividend 40% to 14 cents/share. APC shares were up about 1% Friday to $43.25.

Late Drilling Surge Raises ’03 Canadian Production Expectations

High prices and expectations that the continental market will stay tight to keep prices up have lit a fire under supply development by Canadian natural gas producers who have come roaring back after Spring weather delays. Gas is identified as the target for a 62% majority of a record 18,470 wells projected to be drilled this year by the Canadian industry.

Lehman Brothers Raises Performance Estimates on Mid-Cap Producers

Lehman Brothers raised its earnings per share and cash flow estimates on a group of 16 mid-cap oil and gas production companies by 17% and 7%, respectively, because of higher Nymex gas and oil futures prices and higher Lehman Brothers spot price forecasts for the second quarter and the full year.
