TransCanada Finds Partners on Proposed 1.2 Bcf/d Pathfinder Pipeline

In the race to build new takeaway natural gas pipeline infrastructure out of the Rockies, the proposed Pathfinder Pipeline project received a boost last week as TransCanada Corp., affiliates of Enterprise Products Partners LP and Quicksilver Gas Services LP signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under which Enterprise and Quicksilver Gas Services would acquire up to an aggregate 50% ownership in the project and commit to ship a total of 500 MMcf/d for a 10-year term.

Northeast Pipe-Expansion Race Surrounding REX Heats Up

As the race to move Rocky Mountain natural gas from the Rockies Express Pipeline’s (REX) terminus in Ohio to the Northeast continues to add new entrants, competitors will have to deal with a quickly moving forward pipe proposal from REX itself. Last week, prior to REX announcing that it had completed a successful nonbinding open season for its Northeast Express Project, El Paso Corp.’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Equitable Resources Inc. threw their hats into the ring with plans to jointly build a pipeline project from the terminus of REX to serve Northeast gas markets.

REX Reports Northeast Expansion Interest Exceeds Expectations

As the race to move Rocky Mountain natural gas from the Rockies Express Pipeline’s (REX) terminus in Ohio to the Northeast continues to add new entrants, competitors will have to deal with a quickly moving forward pipe proposal from REX itself. The pipeline said Wednesday it has completed a successful nonbinding open season for the Northeast Express Project, a 375-mile extension of REX that would extend the pipeline’s route from Clarington, OH, and add capacity to receive volumes from Lebanon, OH, to the endpoint in Princeton, NJ.

SoCalGas Signs $26 Million in Energy Efficiency Deals

Reflecting the continuing race in California to stay out front on energy efficiency through massive ratepayer-funded programs, Sempra Energy’s Southern California Gas Co. Tuesday announced it has recently signed contracts totaling $26 million with outside providers to expand residential and small business energy efficiency programs through 2008.
