Enterprise Turns Key on Fifth Mont Belvieu Fractionator
The fifth natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionator at Enterprise Products Partners LP’s Mont Belvieu, TX, complex has entered operation, producing 75,000 b/d, exceeding its nameplate capacity, the company said Tuesday. Work on a sixth unit is under way as Enterprise continues to tout the bullish outlook for U.S. ethane production and its benefits for the petrochemical industry.
Enterprise: Former Partner Wasn’t Spurned
A lawsuit filed by Energy Transfer Partners LP against Enterprise Products Partners LP and Enbridge Inc. over an abandoned proposal to construct an oil pipeline from Cushing, OK, to Houston “is about a company…trying to get in the courthouse what it could not achieve in the marketplace,” Enterprise said in a motion for summary judgment.

Enterprise Products Partners LP unit Texas Express Pipeline LLC is holding a binding open commitment period through Nov. 9 for capacity on a proposed natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline. Texas Express would originate in Skellytown, TX, in Carson County and extend 580 miles to NGL fractionation and storage facilities in Mont Belvieu, TX. The project is part of a joint venture that includes Enbridge Energy Partners LP and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (see Daily GPI, Sept. 7). Initial capacity would be 280,000 b/d; the pipeline is expected to begin service in 2Q2013.
