Outside Northeast Retreat, Most Quotes a Bit Higher

Summer doldrums appear to be settling into the cash market. Hot temperatures continued to pervade the national forecast Wednesday, keeping most points afloat with small gains. A short-lived heat spurt in the Northeast was already in retreat, resulting in some double-digit losses at regional citygates, and some Rockies/California points were slightly softer as well.

Only Two Points Fail to Join Overall Price Gains

In addition to cold weather continuing to pervade much of North America, the cash market got a little extra boost from the return of industrial load from its usual weekend hiatus in recording higher prices at nearly all points Monday.

Heat Boosts Midcontinent, West Prices; East Near Flat

Summer has officially gotten under way, and many people are feeling it. With hot weather starting to pervade most of the U.S. except the Northeast and the upper half of the West, prices managed to rally Monday at most points in the Midcontinent and West and saw little change either up or down in the rest of the East.
