Looking to promote participation in New York’s competitive retail energy markets, National Grid unveiled a new program Thursday under which residential and small business customers in the state can receive a guaranteed 7% discount on electricity and natural gas for two months by selecting an alternative energy supplier.

BG Alaska E&P Inc. is entering the Foothills area of Alaska’s North Slope through a participation agreement with Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and Petro-Canada (Alaska) Inc. The BG Group subsidiary is taking a one-third equity share of 2.1 million acres; Anadarko will be the operator.
