Wyoming PSC OKs Western Gas-Anadarko Deal

Western Gas Resources Inc. of Denver said Tuesday the Wyoming Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved its application to transfer control (at the ultimate parent level) of Mountain Gas Transportation Inc. and MGTC Inc. from Western to Anadarko Petroleum Corp. This was the last remaining regulatory approval required prior to the closing of the merger of Western with a subsidiary of Anadarko (see Daily GPI, June 26).

Following up on its previously announced plans to go public, Nymex Holdings, parent company of New York Mercantile Exchange Inc. and the Commodity Exchange Inc. (Comex), filed plans for an initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock. In its prospectus, Nymex also outlined the potential pitfalls of simultaneously operating side-by-side electronic and open outcry pit trading.

Atmos Names Johnson to Lead Nonregulated Operations

Atmos Energy said it has named Mark H. Johnson, 46, as senior vice president of nonutility operations and president of Atmos Energy Holdings, the parent company of Atmos’ nonutility operations. He will continue serving as president of Atmos Energy Marketing LLC. Johnson is replacing JD Woodward, who is retiring.

WGL Postpones Earnings after Finding Understatements in Marketing Unit Financials

WGL Holdings Inc., parent company of gas utility Washington Gas Light, said Wednesday that it has postponed the release of its quarterly financial report because it discovered inaccuracies in prior financials regarding subsidiary Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc. (WGEServices), its energy marketing subsidiary. The company said earnings for the market unit may have been understated in certain prior periods.

The two parent companies of oil major Royal Dutch/Shell Group announced Thursday that they will unify as a single company, Royal Dutch Shell plc, beginning July 20. The two European companies have been listed independently for nearly a century.
