Prices Plummet as Bearish Influences Mount

The market was hit with hefty losses across the board Friday, coming under pressure from relatively light cooling load outside the southern half of the U.S., a 14.9-cent screen drop on Thursday and increasing concerns about a potential future price crash when most available storage injection space gets eliminated. It’s still fairly cold in most markets early this week outside the southern tier of states, but some moderation of temperatures was in evidence as most points ranged from flat to down as much as 80 cents Monday. Most Points Near Standstill; Weekend Dips Expected

Much of the cash market emulated the March futures contract Thursday — barely budging from where it stood the day before. Outside of some sizeable drops at Northeast citygates, not many points ventured any farther than about a nickel up or down from flat.
