PG&E: Closer to Pipe Failure Cause, But More Work Ahead

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) said late Wednesday the ongoing investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has still not “gotten to the bottom” of the explosion and fire that killed eight people and destroyed 37 homes. The San Francisco-based combination utility pledged to continue to support the investigation.

Transportation Notes

Texas Eastern (TE) said it has an ongoing outage between Chambersburg and Lambertville through May 16. As a result, the pipeline has scheduled and sealed nominations for transportation and delivery between Chambersburg and Lambertville on the 36 inch CRP line. No increases in deliveries between Chambersburg and Lambertville will be accepted.

NGPL Overrecovery Case Nears Settlement; Northern Stalled

Due to ongoing settlement discussions, FERC Chief Judge Curtis Wagner last Monday gave the go-ahead for a two-week suspension of the Section 5 complaint proceeding in which Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America LLC (NGPL) is accused of overrecovering its cost of service by more than 20% (see NGI, Nov. 23, 2009). But trial staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) last Thursday asked Wagner to suspend the entire procedural schedule, saying that parties in the case had agreed to settlement terms.

Report: Mitigation Appealing to Sage Grouse
