Flat — or close to it — numbers reigned in the cash market Thursday as forecasts for freezing-or-less lows ranging from the Northeast through the Rockies dueled with moderate conditions in most of the southern U.S.

Other than some chill in the South, it was hard to tell where the impetus for higher numbers at most points came from Tuesday. Regardless, a large majority of the market was up as prices managed to stave off the effect of spring-like weather for at least one more day.

But most of the cash market was up or down less than a dime from flat as The Weather Channel (TWC) said a potential blizzard in much of the central U.S. will make holiday travel “very dangerous or impossible over portions of the region.”
