Cheniere Strikes LNG Marketing Deal with JPMorgan

Cheniere Energy Inc. marketing subsidiary Cheniere Marketing Inc. has reached a domestic marketing agreement for the sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with J.P. Morgan Ventures Energy Corp., a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase & Co. The deal was expected as Cheniere struggles to restructure its business in a weak U.S. LNG market.

CIG Fined for Storage Field Leak at Fort Morgan, Colorado

Colorado Interstate Gas Co. (CIG) has been fined $374,000 by the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for a 2006 incident in which a cracked well casing in its 8.5 Bcf Fort Morgan, CO, storage field allowed natural gas to escape, causing the evacuation of some residents and threatening their water supply (see Daily GPI, Oct. 25, 2006).

FERC staff sent a letter Friday to Rockies Express Pipeline LLC (REX) saying timely completion of the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) review of the last leg of the 1,678-mile project, known as REX-East, could be in jeopardy.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has determined that the failure of Morgan City, LA-based Athena Construction to require its crews to secure mooring spuds in place on its barges led to an unintentional release of one of the spuds, which resulted in a natural gas pipeline rupture offshore Louisiana that killed six people in October 2006.

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Inc. is contemplating a new interstate natural gas pipeline to connect the developing Fayetteville Shale basin in Central Arkansas to Kinder Morgan’s Rockies Express Pipeline LLC (REX) in Audrain County, MO, the company said Friday.
