Independence Hub Back to Flowing 900 MMcf/d

Independence Hub in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico is back up to moving 900 MMcf/d after an extended outage that was duly noted by the gas market. Anadarko Petroleum Corp. said Monday that repairs to the Independence Trail pipeline and subsequent testing were successful.

ConocoPhillips Inks Deal to Deliver Rockies Gas Eastward

Houston-based Spectra Energy has signed a transportation agreement with ConocoPhillips to deliver up to 395 MMcf/d of Rocky Mountain natural gas from Clarington, OH, the eventual endpoint of the Rockies Express Pipeline (REX), to the Northeast by November 2010, the company said last Wednesday. Terms of the agreement with ConocoPhillips, one of the sponsors of REX, were not disclosed.

Futures End Wild Day Lower Following 93 Bcf Storage Build

Despite missing out on the Independence Hub’s 900 MMcf/d of production for more than a month, the natural gas industry proved Thursday that it can still put healthy injections into storage after the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that 93 Bcf was deposited for the week ended May 9.

Proposed Mackenzie Gathering System Gains 200 MMcf/d Shipper

In a sign that the long-awaited Mackenzie Gas Pipeline (MGP) might yet be built, Calgary-based MGM Energy Corp. agreed to ship 200 MMcf/d on the pipeline backers’ proposed Mackenzie Gathering System (MGS). The agreement also gives MGM the option to own a share of the planned gathering system.

Enterprise Products Partners LP said production through the Independence Hub gas platform in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico has reached approximately 600 MMcf/d from 10 wells. As the initial 15 wells are brought on line, producers expect that production at the Independence Hub will be at or near its capacity of 1 Bcf/d by the end of 2007 (see Daily GPI, Sept. 7; July 23; March 9).
