UGI Energy Services Inc., a subsidiary of UGI Corp., said it plans to spend $150 million to build a 30-mile extension of its Auburn Gathering System. The project calls for extending Auburn from its terminus in Wyoming County, PA, to Luzerne County, PA, and for building a connection to the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line. The extension is expected to be in service in the second or third quarter of 2013.

Midcontinent-Mont Belvieu NGL Pipeline Capacity Offered

Skelly-Belvieu Pipeline Co. LLC is holding a binding open season through Nov. 16 for capacity on a proposed expansion of the 570-mile Skelly-Belvieu natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline, which originates in Carson County, TX, and transports purity products from the Midcontinent to Mont Belvieu, TX.

Alliance Owners Agree to Start Building Bakken Lateral

Two Calgary-based companies announced Tuesday that they will construct a 77-mile pipeline lateral in North Dakota to transport liquids-rich gas from the Bakken Shale to the Midwest for processing.

The federal Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) said it plans to build a $185 million, 28-mile high-voltage transmission line to move more energy from east of the Cascade Mountains to load centers in western Oregon and Washington. The Big Eddy-Knight transmission power line would run from BPA’s Big Eddy Substation near The Dalles, OR, to a new substation four miles northwest of Goldendale, WA. Before construction can begin, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) will conduct a consistency review of the project, which falls within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Following the USFS review, BPA will finalize contract terms and obtain all permits and approvals for a project it claims would create up to 100 new construction-related jobs. The project would be financed in part with borrowing authority included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Cushing, OK-to-Houston Crude Pipeline Plan Suspended

Enterprise Products Partners LP and Entergy Transfer Partners LP for now have abandoned plans to construct a 584-mile crude oil pipeline from Cushing, OK, to Houston, Enterprise said Monday.

Ruby Begins Service; Initial Flows Light

El Paso Corp. last Thursday placed into service its 680-mile, 42-inch diameter Ruby Pipeline, which will ship Rockies natural gas to West Coast markets in direct competition with Canadian gas. Ruby is the largest gas pipeline project to serve the West since the expansion of the Kern River Gas Transmission in 2003, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

NuStar Logistics has reactivated and plans to operate its 60-mile Pettus South Pipeline to transport Eagle Ford crude oil to Corpus Christi, TX, part of its agreement with Koch Pipeline Co. LP, a subsidiary of Koch Industries Inc. The move will add 30,000 b/d of capacity to the Koch system, which totals about 540 miles in South Texas. In May 2010 Koch completed projects to expand its crude oil and gas condensates capacity by 25,000 b/d, then added another 50,000 b/d of crude and condensate capacity through an agreement with Arrowhead Pipeline LP in September 2010.

Kinder Morgan-Copano JV Signs More Eagle Ford Contracts

Eagle Ford Gathering LLC, a joint venture (JV) of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP and Copano Energy LLC, has executed two long-term agreements to provide transportation, processing and fractionation services to two operators in the Eagle Ford Shale, expanding its already significant contracted production in the South Texas play.
