More Microturbines Powering Shale Operations

Less than a month after receiving a 3 MW order from a large independent oil and gas company for deployment in the producer’s acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale play in South Texas, Capstone Turbine Corp. said Thursday it has received a follow-on order from the same undisclosed company for six more C1000 Power Packages, accounting for an additional 6 MW.

An affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners LLC will acquire a 9.9% stake in OGE Energy Corp.’s Enogex midstream gas pipeline subsidiary, OGE Energy said. OGE Energy will contribute its marketing business, OGE Energy Resources Inc., to Enogex. ArcLight, a private equity firm based in Boston, has agreed to pay OGE Energy $183 million. The transaction is expected to be completed by Nov. 1 and will enable ArcLight to increase its stake over time. “As emerging natural gas resource plays continue to be developed, they are creating significant midstream infrastructure opportunities,” said Robb Turner, co-founder of ArcLight Capital Partners. “Enogex has substantial organic growth opportunities around its strategically located Midcontinent operations.”

Plains to Acquire 60,000 Eagle Ford Acres for $578M

Moving forward with a plan to shift its focus from the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) to onshore oil assets, Plains Exploration & Production Co. (PXP) has agreed to acquire from multiple sellers interests in about 60,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas for $578 million in cash, the Houston-based independent said Tuesday.

Reports: ConocoPhillips Consolidating Global Trading Arms

ConocoPhillips is said to be consolidating its regional trading arm into a global business to be based in London to increase its presence in physical natural gas and oil marketing. According to press reports, the London office would monitor U.S. and Asian markets, while the supply trading would be carried out in Houston, where the company is headquartered.
