Tax Settlement Proceeds Boost PG&E’s Bottom Line

PG&E Corp. managed to avoid being added to the recession’s casualty list on Tuesday as proceeds from a multi-year tax settlement pushed 4Q2008 consolidated net income to $517 million, or $1.37/share, which is more than double the $203 million, or 56 cents/share, in the same quarter of 2007.

After allowing a one-day systemwide Stage 2 low-inventory OFO to lapse Friday, Pacific Gas & Electric issued a systemwide Stage 2 high-inventory OFO on its California Gas Transmission system for Saturday. A tolerance of 9% was set for positive daily imbalances, with noncompliance penalties of $1/Dth.

Producers Scale Back Production Estimates, Capex Budgets

Monday joined the growing list of domestic producers that have scaled back their quarterly production projections and/or cut back their capital expenditures (capex) due to lagging natural gas prices, reduced production volumes in the aftermath of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike and the growing credit crunch.

Columbia, Shippers Resolve Dispute over Delivery Points

Shippers have withdrawn their complaint accusing Columbia Gas Transmission of unilaterally trying to implement a new and revised master list of interconnection (MLI) points, a move that shippers said would have seriously impaired their ability to schedule primary firm transportation on Columbia’s system.
