Enron Prosecution Witness Sentenced to Prison

David Delainey, a former Enron Corp. executive who testified for the prosecution in the trial of former Enron chiefs Jeffrey Skilling and the late Kenneth Lay earlier this year, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison on Monday.

Calpine announced two new members of its senior management team. The company has named James Brown as senior vice president for commodity structuring and valuation and Jeffrey Kinneman as senior vice president for structured finance, strategy and restructuring. Kinneman joins the company from Texas Genco, which recently was acquired by NRG Energy. At Texas Genco he was acting chief risk officer and director of credit and risk management. Brown returns to Calpine, having previously served as vice president-structuring.

Lay, Skilling Sentencing Delayed Six Weeks

The federal judge who presided over the criminal trial of Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay and ex-CEO Jeffrey Skilling on Friday agreed to delay the Sept. 11 sentencing of the two men. Their lawyers were given an extra six weeks to prepare arguments for the court that will ultimately determine how long the former executives spend in prison.

Jurors Weigh Fate of Former Enron Chiefs; Lay’s New Trial Begins

With most of the journalists and court watchers gone, jurors in the trial of Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay and former CEO Jeffrey Skilling begin their third day of deliberations Monday in Houston. However, there is no rest for Lay, who is expected to be back on the stand in a different trial Monday to defend himself against four counts of bank fraud for personal loans he took out from three banks. His fate will be decided not by a jury but by presiding U.S. District Judge Sim Lake.
