Open Season to Expand Enbridge’s Midla Capacity

Enbridge Energy Partners LP Thursday announced a non-binding open season for additional firm capacity on the Midla pipeline system, a 170-mile, 22-inch diameter, low-pressure pipeline spanning Louisiana and Mississippi from the Perryville Hub area at the north end of the system to the large Baton Rouge, LA, industrial complex at the south end.

Millennium Pipeline Approaches Long-Awaited Finish Line

More than 10 years after the project was first proposed, Millennium Pipeline Co. LLC plans to complete construction of the 182-mile, 30-inch diameter Millennium natural gas pipeline across New York’s Southern Tier and lower Hudson Valley by Dec. 1 and the pipeline could begin carrying gas as soon as that same day, a company spokesman said last Wednesday.

Transportation Notes

Northwest reported encountering numerous difficulties due to terrain conditions in the rerouting of its 22-inch diameter mainline near Boise, ID. As a result, the corresponding outage has been moved from Wednesday of this week to Nov. 18, and in an effort to reduce customer impacts, Northwest has also rescheduled a Lava Hot Springs Compressor Station engine exchange to Nov. 18-19. Anomaly investigations between the Cisco and Moab compressor stations are still under evaluation, the pipeline said. At this time Northwest does not anticipate any customer impacts related to this project but said that if this outlook should change, it will notify customers as soon as possible.

Oasis Pipeline Ruptures in Central Texas

A 36-inch diameter portion of the Oasis Pipeline System’s Waha-to-Katy line at a remote location in Central Texas, between San Antonio and Austin, ruptured and an explosion appears to have damaged a compressor station early Thursday morning.

Millennium on Schedule for November Ramp-Up

Millennium Pipeline Co. LLC Tuesday said it remains on schedule to complete the 182-mile-long, 30-inch diameter natural gas pipeline across New York’s Southern Tier and lower Hudson Valley by November. More than 90% of the pipeline is expected to be installed within or next to existing pipeline rights-of-way.

Transportation Notes

During the installation of a pig receiver at the end of the 12-inch diameter Chattanooga Branch Line in Hamilton County, TN, Southern Natural Gas identified the need to remove a malfunctioning pipeline valve. Southern said it plans to begin the valve removal process, which is expected to take up to 24 hours, on Friday morning. Declaring it a force majeure event, Southern said it was not accepting any nominations at the Chattanooga Meter Station for Friday’s gas day, but did anticipate accepting nominations there on the Timely and Evening cycles for Saturday.

Transportation Notes

Southern Natural Gas said Saturday it had completed maintenance begun a day earlier on a section of the 14-inch diameter Chattanooga Branch Line in northern Georgia and returned the line to service.
