FracFocus to Make Several Improvements This Year

The two organizations that jointly run FracFocus.org, the national registry that provides the public with a list of chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing (fracking), said several improvements will be made to the system this year.

GWPC: More States Regulating Fracking, Requiring Baseline Water Testing

Regulators in 27 states, which collectively account for 98% of domestic oil and natural gas production, have “substantially improved groundwater protection laws and regulations governing oil and natural gas production,” including laws governing hydraulic fracturing (fracking), according to a report by the Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC).

Review OKs Oklahoma Hydrofracking Regulation

Regulation of hydraulic fracturing (hydrofracking) by the Oil and Gas Conservation Division of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) is well managed but could use more funding, according to a review conducted by the nonprofit State Review of Oil and Natural Gas Environmental Regulations (STRONGER).
