Enron Given July 11 Deadline for Reorganization Plan

As requested, the judge presiding over Enron Corp.’s bankruptcy granted an 11-day extension for the company to file its reorganization plan. Judge Arthur Gonzalez said it would be “counterproductive” to deny the request, which was made last week (see Daily GPI, June 30).

ANR’s WestLeg Project Expansion Approved

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last week conditionally granted ANR Pipeline Co.’s application requesting abandonment approval and certificate authorization for its proposed WestLeg Project Expansion. The Commission gave the project preliminary approval on non-environmental grounds last December (see NGI, Dec. 23, 2002).

FERC Scrubs Tuscarora Phase II Project; Tackles OCS, Hinshaw Issues

FERC last Wednesday granted a request by Tuscarora Gas Transmission to cancel the second phase of a planned pipeline expansion that was intended to serve a power generation plant proposed by Duke Energy. The pipeline asked the Commission to vacate the certificate order for this phase of the project after Duke Energy North America LLC placed on indefinite hold its plans for a 540 MW Washoe generating facility near Reno, NV.

Williams’ Transcontinental Gas Pipeline (Transco) filed to amend a previously granted FERC certificate for its $189 million Momentum expansion project. The pipeline wants to phase in and reduce the size of the expansion due to changes in the needs of two power generation customers in the Southeast.

Saltville Storage Expansion Gets Thumbs-Up from Virginia Regulators

NUI Corp. reported that the Virginia Corporation Commission has granted it a certificate for expansion of a natural gas storage facility located in Saltville, VA. NUI said the new storage capacity is key to its energy hub strategy. The 6.2 Bcf facility will be connected to the East Tennessee Natural Gas mainline and the P-25 pipeline system of Virginia Gas Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of NUI. Virginia Gas currently controls 1.1 Bcf of high deliverability storage capacity in an existing storage cavern at Saltville.
