Penn Virginia Resource Partners LP (PVR) has begun service on a new 30-mile, 24-inch diameter trunkline serving Marcellus Shale producers in north-central Pennsylvania with 750 MMcf/d of capacity. The capacity gives producers shipping gas out of the Marcellus a way around constraints on Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s congested 300 Line.

The Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania is generally divided into two regions, the northeast and the southwest, but increasingly the stretch of fairway between those regions is gaining prominence.

Australia’s Eureka Energy Ltd. recently agreed to acquire 3,975 net acres in Burleson and Washington counties, TX, within the eastern liquids-rich fairway of the Eagle Ford Shale. The acreage potentially is within the gas condensate window as well, the company said.

Penn Virginia Corp. (PVA) has paid $14.5 million for approximately 4,100 net acres in Gonzales County, TX, bringing its total net Eagle Ford Shale acreage to about 10,900 acres, and has seen success with its initial Eagle Ford well, the Radnor, PA-based company said.

Equitable Resources Inc.’s Equitable Midstream unit has launched an open season for expansion of its gathering and transportation systems within the Marcellus fairway from south-central West Virginia to Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Calgary-based AEC Oil & Gas secured an anchor land positionin the gas exploration fairway of the Mackenzie Delta in theNorthwest Territories. The lands, which were acquired through aproperty swap with Husky Oil, give the partnership of AEC West Ltd.and Alberta Energy Company Ltd. rights to more than 400,000 netacres.
