Wyoming Interstate Co. (WIC), a pipeline subsidiary of El Paso Corp., said Thursday it has received binding bids for 350,000 Dth/d of transportation capacity on its proposed Piceance Lateral expansion project as part of a recent open season, and is seeking to determine whether there is additional shipper interest that would warrant increasing the scope of the project.

The state of New Mexico wants to get into the natural gas pipeline business and has its eyes set on Enron’s Transwestern Pipeline, but the bidding rules governing the bankruptcy court-directed auction for Enron’s assets apparently won’t allow the state to participate.

Vowing to take a cooperative approach, Enbridge Inc. announced plans last week to submit an application to the state of Alaska to compete for a commercial agreement to build and operate the 750-mile in-state portion of the Alaska Highway Pipeline Project from Prudhoe Bay to the Alaska-Yukon border.
