Public Service Company of Colorado’s (PSCO) abandonment of its Leyden Storage facility over the next few years has prompted a series of storage and transportation changes on Colorado Interstate Gas that are designed to replace the storage service at Leyden and meet growing demand from six other customers in Colorado. The project, which was approved by FERC last week, is expected to cost $58 million and be in service in September.

Conoco Inc. enhanced its natural gas portfolio last week,announcing an agreement to acquire LG&E Energy Corp.’s naturalgas gathering and processing business assets in New Mexico, Texas,Oklahoma and Montana. The deal will make Conoco the second largestnatural gas gatherer in the region, more than doubling its capacityin southeast New Mexico and improving its processing capacity inthe region by 42%.

While electric restructuring at the federal level meandersalong, a broad group of industry and consumer organizationsreleased a list last week of 23 principles it believes should beincluded. The group is hoping its efforts might add some urgency tothe legislative process.
