Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. (CRZO) is buying 15,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford Shale from an affiliate of Sanchez Energy Corp. for $181 million in cash.

Talisman Energy USA Inc. is being sued by oil and natural gas royalty owners with interests in the Eagle Ford Shale for allegedly manipulating production volumes by as much as 20-30%.

Two private equity-backed exploration companies are merging their Permian Basin-focused operations to double down in one of the hottest plays in West Texas.

Private equity giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP (KKR) and Venado Oil and Gas LLC have formed a partnership to consolidate proven assets in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. They said they will pursue additional oil and gas investment opportunities there as well.

Eagle LNG Partners has filed the last draft resource report in its prefiling process at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and anticipates submitting its formal application for its project in Jacksonville, FL by the end of the year. It would be a 1 million ton per annum liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant serving domestic LNG applications and nearby small-scale export markets beginning in 2019 (see Daily GPI, Jan. 28). Eagle LNG expects the project’s output to displace heavy fuel oil and diesel. Eagle LNG is a unit of Ferus Natural Gas Fuels LP.

In recent quarters the goal of EOG Resources has been to lower operational costs and achieve a strong return on capital investment in an effort to reset the company to succeed in a low commodity price environment, and a series of achievements this year demonstrate “significant progress” toward those goals, according to CEO Bill Thomas.

During the second quarter Denver-based SM Energy Co. saw its production grow by 7% over the previous quarter, thanks to improvements in both the Permian Basin and the Eagle Ford Shale, while costs came down.

After a private placement capital raising, recently formed Dallas-based Energy Hunter Resources Inc. said it acquired two lease acreage blocks in Karnes County, TX, in the Eagle Ford Shale. The company is also targeting acreage in the Permian Basin and mineral rights in the Marcellus and Utica shales.

Noble Energy Inc. said new wells targeting the Eagle Ford Shale helped boost expected sales volumes for 2Q2016 to approximately 425,000 boe/d, a new quarterly record for the Houston-based super independent.
