Imports of Canadian natural gas from Dawn, ON, could be displaced by U.S. gas moving out of northeastern Pennsylvania on expansions of both Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) and National Fuel Gas Co. that are due to enter service in November, Bentek Energy LLC said in a note.

The natural gas market may be in a “dire state,” but Tulsa-based contract driller Helmerich & Payne Inc. is poised to benefit as customers migrate to oil and liquids-rich shale plays where its high-performance AC-drive rigs are well suited to the more complicated work, CEO Hans Helmerich said Tuesday.

More than 10,700 jobs could be displaced for part of the year if proposed new permitting and drilling rules under consideration in Colorado are enacted, according to the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) and the Colorado Petroleum Association (CPA).

Very little gas changed hands on Friday as many traders were displaced by the hurricane, while others stood by watching and waiting for some news about the impact on Gulf production and operations. Most business was done on Thursday for a four-day period (Friday-Monday). There was some choppy intraday business, and, aside from high quotes in the Northeast and Gulf Coast, prices generally reflected the weakness of the futures market on Friday. Near month futures fell 46.6 cents to end the day at $12.324.
