BP’s Leak Cap Was Working; Relief Wells Continue

Engineers and executives were watching closely Friday afternoon to see whether a cap that was containing the flow of oil from BP plc’s disastrous Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico would continue to work. While early indications were positive that the the temporary fix was a success, later pressure readings suggested the well could be leaking elsewhere.

J’accuse: Anadarko Blasts BP on Macondo

Late Friday Anadarko Petroleum Corp. — a 25% partner with BP plc in the disastrous Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) — pointed the finger directly at its London-based partner and assigned blame for the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe. BP fired back that it intends to continue doing its part, but noted that its partners also have “obligations.”

Report: BP CEO to Step Away from GOM

Some U.S. lawmakers would likely say BP plc CEO Tony Hayward bet the company with the disastrous Macondo well in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). Hayward might do well to click on UK-based betting website paddypower.com, which Friday was offering five-to-four odds that he would be the first to leave/lose his job at BP.
