PG&E Gas Transmission Puts New Line in Service, Files 2003 Expansion

PG&E Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) already has started deliveries through a 21-mile section of its 2002 mainline expansion project, and is making significant progress on proposed future expansions. The new 21-mile pipe section put into service last Friday increases the company’s ability to deliver natural gas to western markets by 42,000 Dth/d a year earlier than expected and in time for the 2001 winter heating season.

New Tengasco Line Begins Service

Knoxville-based Tengasco last week began natural gas deliveries over its new intrastate pipeline to Eastman Chemical Co. under a 20-year sales contract that calls for a minimum of 10 MMcf/d. The contract, which will supply at least 80% of Eastman’s gas requirements in Kingsport, TN, is estimated to generate over $200 million of revenues during its term.

El Paso subsidiary Colorado Interstate Gas is dusting off its Ruby Pipeline project in light of the scramble to increase deliveries to the California market. The project, which originally was announced in 1998 to serve northern Nevada, will be extended to Reno, NV, and into California, the pipeline said in an open season announcement last week.
