Independent oil and gas company Magellan Energy Ltd. said its Robert Anderson, Thomas Marton and Thomas Davidson wells in the Burville area of Tennessee are shut in due to high BTU levels. Gas in the Burville area has unusually high BTU levels — higher than FERC allows to be put into lines going directly into residential and commercial use — and needs to be stripped before going to its only traditional market, the Citizens Gas Utility District. Magellan said it and other producers are in the process of building or acquiring a pipeline that will take the gas directly to market and expect the situation to be resolved “as soon as possible.” Until then, the wells will remain shut in.
